At The Rising Sun Café, we’ve brought a slice of New Zealand’s vibrant brunch and coffee culture to the enchanting shores of Gili Air. Nestled on the islands Northeast coast, you’ll find our beachfront cafe – a place where you get to dig your feet into the sand, listen to the sound of the waves, and watch the mesmerizing sunrise and view over Mount Rinjani.
Open every day between 6am to 4pm, the Café has the island’s most extensive all-day brunch selection. The extensive coffee & drinks menu is a delightful complement to our delicious food. Indulge in the refreshing coffees, juices and smoothies – snack away on sandwishes, fruit bowls, and salads – or try our yummy homemade cakes and crepes.
The majority of our menu is cooked from scratch with the freshest local ingredients, according to family recipes. Both our ingredients and suppliers are from the Lombok region, as we believe in supporting the local community and economy. It’s our small way of reducing our footprints and contributing to the preservation of our beautiful island.

Just behind our dive center, and its beautiful ocean view, you will find our hotel – Tipsea Turtle.
With its friendly and social vibe, it is a great place to spend your diving holiday! Unwind by the pool, relax in the garden hammock, enjoy a cold drink by the bar, meet some great people and explore the many amazing restaurants, boutiques, and beaches in the area. With both fan and AC rooms, dorms, doubles, twins, bungalows, and family rooms on offer, we’ve got something to suit every budget and preference!

The best way to organize your dive trip is to book yourself one of our Dive & Stay Packages. We have a wide range of different option available when booking a course with us,whether you travel alone, with a partner, friends or the entire family! Gili Air is a popular dive destination, so we would highly recommend you to book your package well in advance. We would also like to mention that our packages are based on the availability of rooms and bungalows at Tipsea Turtle Gili Air, and that you need to book and pay the deposit minimum 3 days prior to your arrival.

” The best way to start the morning is in this lovely cafe enjoying the sunrise. There are several different coffee and drink options as well as breakfast, we enjoyed the smoothie bowls. The owners have managed to create a lively atmosphere with smiling staff!

” I liked Everything! Super nice staff. shout-out to Didi and Arel for making the best passion fruit mojitos! Nice pool. Amazing waffles for breakfast! Super chill hostel to relax and to do some diving at Next Level Scuba out the front was very convenient. and the instructors there were really great. It’s close to sunset point and is a perfect spot to view sunrises in the morning. Ended up staying for 6 nights and could’ve stayed longer. Great hostel! 10/10 would recommend to a friend

Beautiful and cute cafe directly at the waterfront! Tasty coffee and delicious sandwiches. But my favourite is the carrot cake! OMG! You have to try it! Highly recommended.

” Nice pool/bar area that’s good for meeting people when the hostel is busy. My bungalow was beautiful, comfortable & spacious, and the bed was comfy, I slept so well. Loved the semi-outdoor enclosed bathroom setup. Breakfast was basic, but I didn’t mind (it’s included after all) and the coffee was superb! The happy hour is a great deal, try the passion fruit or ginger mojito! The location is kind of on the quieter side of the island, (actually preferred this side though) but still had plenty of restaurants/bars within walking distance and it really doesn’t take long to get to any other point on the island especially if you have a bicycle. There’s snorkeling just off the beach in front as well as a great view of the sunrise. The dive staff in front of the hostel are lovely, will be coming back again to stay and dive here! And lastly, but most importantly the staff/owners of Tipsea were fantastic. So kind, welcoming & accommodating. I even wound up extending for one more night. Also, the laundry service was super convenient and the staff help you with anything you need. Really happy I chose this place!

Open for sunrise
We had breakfast here twice: it is open from early in the morning and you can enjoy the tranquility and the beautiful view of the sea. Our experience with the dishes was very pleasant: fresh and tasty food. The menu has a big selection of dishes with eggs, smoothie bowls (also vegan) and a selection of cakes.

” An amazing place, super clean, breakfast with waffles and fruits. Nice pool, right in front of the beach where you can swim with the turtles. Is a big plus if you wanna do scuba diving. The staff is super friendly, helpful and they give all the information necessary. Super recommend “
